The $3.2 CAD million centre is the first of its kind for Canada's population of 4000 Tibetans. As many as 2700 people are estimated to attend in-person. For the 1000 people anticipated to join online, Streamlogics will deliver the two hour video broadcast on a custom branded webcast interface. "We want Tibetans around the world to be inspired by the work Ontario's Tibetans have done", said Mr. Tsering Wangyal, Vice President, CTAO. "The webcast allows us to capture the spirit and show the world that our culture is alive outside of Tibet." Officially named the Gangjong Choedenling Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre, it is intended to lift awareness of the Tibetan culture and promote friendship among Canada's many cultural groups. In the spirit of preserving Tibetan culture, the Dalai Lama will be received by approximately 150 student performers of the CTAO's Performing Arts.
With automatic detection of bandwidth and screen resolution, Streamlogics' webcast platform customizes the viewing experience for each user's computer. Streamlogics will have an on site producer to coordinate technical logistics and has provided specific services in-kind to ensure a high-end user experience along with on demand access to the event for 90 days. "Our webcast platform and reliable broadcast infrastructure are well suited to deliver CTAO's live video event", said Shaun McIver, President and CEO of Streamlogics. About the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre (TCCC)
Located on 40 Titan Road, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada the 50,000 square foot building on 2.18 acre land was acquired on October 17, 2007. In 2004, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama (meaning "Ocean of Wisdom"), the political and spiritual leader of Tibet's government-in-exile in northern India, gave his blessings to the organization and granted the Tibetan name "Gangjong Choedenling" to the community centre. Since 1998, Tibetans in Canada have been dedicated to preserving and promoting the values of the unique Tibetan cultural heritage. Tibetans in Ontario have embarked on a major fundraising campaign to urge Tibetans and friends of Tibet to support this project. To date, the community has raised over $610,148.
